A major part of the downtown area of Belize City was plunged into a blackout today after BEL had to cut the power for some urgent repairs.
It's the consequence of what one driver is calling a freak accident. An accident that left his car up in the air balancing on a lampost's wire.
7News caught up with the driver this morning to ask him how he pulled off one of the worst parking jobs imaginable.
Clive Withfield Anderson, Victim Of Freak Accident
"Yes, ma'am it's a freak accident, I parked on the other side not even 25 yards away, not even 10 yards I would say from where the accident happend. Anyhow I was parked I was leaving there, a vehicle came and sandwiched me, I reversed out and manoeuvred to come out and when I pressed the gas, the gas to come out the ags stuck on me and it was heading for the other side and I just swung it back and that's how I ended up right there so."
Cherisse Halsall:
"Basically you drove up onto the wire of the lamppost?"
Clive Withfield Anderson, Victim Of Freak Accident
"Well, I don't know that's what I ended up seeing, I didn't intentionally drive up there."
Cherisse Halsall:
"How does that feel once you're up there now, in the car?"

Clive Withfield Anderson, Victim Of Freak Accident
"Well, I jumped out that's all I can tell you. I jumped out."
Cherisse Halsall:
"We're there any eyewitnesses that saw what happened to you?"
Clive Withfield Anderson, Victim Of Freak Accident
"Well, the whole of the hospital was there, you know."
Cherisse Halsall:
"And what was their reaction?"
Clive Withfield Anderson, Victim Of Freak Accident
"Well, they just asked me if I got hurt and you know, everybody wanted to know what happend I just told everybody the same story."
Cherisse Halsall:
"But for you how was your heart racing and what were you thinking?"
Clive Withfield Anderson, Victim Of Freak Accident
"I don't know what to tell you mein, I was speechless, you know. I had to cry and all that because you know I never expected something like that because I'm, it's not like I was driving and speeding and so I just manoeuvred right on as I said right between 10 and 15 yards away from where the accident happens, so you know."
Cherisse Halsall:
"Well, we are all happy that you're okay but I have to get your reaction to the fact that all of Regent and Albert street is out of electricity right now because of it."
Clive Withfield Anderson, Victim Of Freak Accident
"Well, it's not my fault you know, it's the, you know I have to say it's the fault of the vehicle but so far I was driving the vehicle and nothing happened but I don't know what to say to that. I ended up in a freak accident and that's it."
