And while Katariya survived that incident, two men were killed in traffic accidents in the past week. The most recent accident occurred on Saturday night and a police constable was the victim. And the other one occurred last Thursday, involving a motorcycle and a bus. Today, ACP Hilberto Romero told us more about both incidents.

"At 6:40 p.m., on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, police responded to a fatal RTA at Bella Vista Village, Toledo District. Upon their arrival, they found Elojio Teul, twenty-four-years-old Belizean constable with injuries on a motorcycle. Information gathered was that he was driving his motorcycle on the highway when a male person crossed the road and he struck the male person, causing him to fall from the motorcycle. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. An investigation is being carried out at this time."
"On Thursday 26th January, 2023 police responded to a fatal road traffic accident at Bella Vista Village. Upon their arrival they saw a James Bus parked on the road and there was also a motorcycle with a male person with severe head and body injuries. The person was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead ona arrival. Investigation reveal that the deceased Roberto Reymundo was riding his motorcycle when he was struck from behind by a James Bus. The driver was detained. The investigation is being carried out at this time."
