A man was sentenced to life in prison for murder today. 27 year old Jason Sanchez, known as Jungle Rat was convicted of the November 2014 murder of 34 year old Emerson Arnold, a BWS employee. He was riding to work at 6:30 in the morning when a gunman shot him six times in the back on Gibnut Street.
Sanchez was arrested and has been on remand for over 8 years. Today, Justice Herbert Lord sentenced him to life imprisonment with no possibility for parole until after he serves 30 years. With the deduction of his years already served on remand, Sanchez will be eligible for parole in 21 years. Justice Lord added that for him to also be eligible for parole, he must first undergo counseling.
His conviction back in August of last year was based to a fair extent on a statement from an eyewitness who never appeared in court to testify because she feared for her life after receiving a number of threats.
