Last night we told you that the Area Representative for Orange Walk East gave back a piece of titled land that he acquired in 2022. The controversy arose because the land - in Carmelita Village - had been designated as a green space for a park in a housing subdivision. But Bernard acquired the two acre property in his own name.

Well, he has given it back, and his opponent, Elodio Aragon, who first publicized the issue, is mock-applauding him tonight for getting it right after he got it so wrong:

Elodio Aragon, UDP - OW East
"When I saw the news this morning, I felt in a way good, because now I knew that the people of Carmelita, that development area, close to 300 families will now have a park and I'm glad to know that Kevin has done the right thing and given this land back to the people. I know in the last interview they did with him, he said oh its political mischief etc."

"Jules, I don't play that kind of game. This is real and we have to deal with it and I'm glad that he has now manned up and given this land back to the people. With that, I feel good. I don't know about the fence. I think he should remove the fence and barb wires and the post so that it can for once and for all everybody could know that its back in the hands of the people."

And Kevin Bernard isn't fixating on any fence, he's moving on. The area rep says he is working on a new Carmelita New subdivision with 506 residential lots, 48 commercial lots, 101 agriculture parcels and 1 open space, among other amenities.
