And while that one appears to be accidental, there were two murders in less than 12 hours in Belize City yesterday.

Last night we brought you the story of 19-year-old Shamar Cabral, and shortly after the evening news was finished, 30-year-old Sylvian Nigel Swift was killed just before 8 last night. Swift, a resident of Antelope Street, was only a few feet away from home when a motorcycle heading toward Central American Boulevard started firing off a barrage of shots. Police in the area fired back at the suspects, causing them to fall off the motorcycle and drop the gun - a 9 millimeter pistol which police have recovered. And while the cops have the gun and the motorcycle, they don't have the suspects: the men then jumped a fence and fled the scene.

And even though he was not the apparent target, Swift was fatally shot, and his family has no idea why. But according to his father, he has no choice but to accept his son's death, and to put the rest in God's hands. He was understandably too distraught to speak on camera, but told us that his son was a kind and friendly person, who was always willing to donate blood to whoever needed it. Swift was the third of five children, and had one daughter of his own, who has been battling cerebral palsy.
