One man is dead after a wild car chase and shootout in the north this afternoon. Details are still sketchy but the first report we got was from the Pueblo Nuevo ferry in the Corozal District where - reports say as many as 20 shots were fired. And then people in the area saw a man jump in the river to escape the gunfire - and this video shows him swimming across the river - but he didn't make it. He went under near the river bank and never resurfaced. At this point it is not known if he was shot.

Notably, the vehicle has Belize City plates and two of the suspects so far are said to be from the city.

We'll have more information on this in tomorrow's newscast.
