And while the stevedores seem to be locked in an eternal struggle, their President of the past 5 years is taking a break from it.

The CWU will have elections for a new president later this month as Mose Hyde steps down. But, today he told us he's staying in the struggle and the fight:

Mose Hyde, President, CWU
"I am stepping down actually after 5 years but I am committed to being a part of the board. So to be completely honest, a load of a president is an extremely heavy one, well as having as you know another job working in a familiar place to you. So it is about making sure that my impact is strategic and more efficient, it's a wide union and it's a union with actually 12 units now. I am currently involved with 5 CBA negotiations. So the presidency is something that's going to be determined. But my participation in the struggle is not a thing that I would walk away from."
