A leaked internal memo from the KHMH caused concern on social media today after the Acting Director of Medical Services announced that there would be no Obstetrician or Gynecologist on call for Wednesday, May 3th, and the weekend of May 8th and 9th.
The concerns were that pregnant women in need of these services would be at risk since no specialist would be able to come in.
However, a press release from the hospital clarified this, stating that Obstetric and Gynecological Speciality services will continue uninterrupted. The release explained that the hospital performs over 2,500 deliveries annually and manages critically ill mothers and babies in their ICU and NICU. Therefore, even though human resources are limited as it relates to the availability of specialists, the KHMH authority mitigates for every circumstance.
