The trial of police corporal Elmer Nah and his common law wife Epifania Caliz for unlicensed ammunition continued today in the Belize City Magistrate's Court.

But, the proceedings took an unusual twist when Caliz - who is one of the accused took the stand as a witness.

She was presenting a video she captured of the police search on the day she and Elmer Nah were detained by police back in November of 2021 - days after the drug plane landed in Bladen.

But, prosecutor Alifah Elrington objected to the testimony - and said that - as per standard procedure - Caliz - as a witness - cannot be in court when the objections are heard.

But, Caliz is also an accused - so attorney Leeroy Banner argued that she can be in court to hear the objections.

Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman then adjourned the proceedings - asked for written submissions - and will announce her decision on whether the testimony can continue when the case resumes on June 20th.

Nah - who entered and left the court in a waist chain - along with his common law Epiphania and his brother-in-law Manuel Caliz, are on trial for two counts of ammunition charges for.223 and 5.56 rounds ammunitions allegedly found in the vehicle they were in.

Manuel Caliz is represented by Leeroy Banner while Epifania Caliz is being represented by attorney, Dickie Bradley while Nah is unrepresented. The crown is being represented by Head of Prosecution Branch, Alifah Elrington.
