Tonight, an elderly woman has been admitted to the KHMH in what we are told may be a critical condition.
That's after she apparently lost control of her vehicle on the George Price Highway and drifted into the wrong lane. It led to her vehicle being T-boned and totalled by a sand truck on the shoulder of the highway.
7News was on the scene this afternoon and spoke with the driver of that truck. Here's what he told us about his reaction and his hopes for the crash victim's survival.
Cristino Javier Rodriguez, Truck Driver
"I was coming from Belize towards Hattieville and another vehicle was coming from the opposite side when this vehicle just overtook, just came and overtook full speed, she couldn't stop so she just overtook on my side. I couldn't avoid that."
Cherisse Halsall:
"How frightened were you when you found yourself slamming into this vehicle?"

Cristino Javier Rodriguez, Truck Driver
"Well, I just held onto my steering because I can't do anything about this, I, then she when she was already on my side she started to kind of zig zag but I don't know where she's going or what to do. I just held on to my brakes."
"I'm sorry for the lady but I mean it's not my fault totally 100% it's not my fault."
Cherisse Halsall:
"I heard you tell someone you hope she survives."
Cristino Javier Rodriguez, Truck Driver
"Well, I would like her to survive, she's a human, I would like her to survive and only God knows."
Cherisse Halsall:
"Tell me about the moments after, were you knocked out?"
Cristino Javier Rodriguez, Truck Driver
"No, no, when I just opened the door I ran to see what happened and who was there in the vehicle, I saw her but I couldn't do anything because she was strapped into the vehicle but I ran to her because the first thing my mind came on the driver because I didn't know it was an old lady so I just ran to her and well I couldn't do anything about that."
Cherisse Halsall:
"How quickly were others around trying to assist you?"
Cristino Javier Rodriguez, Truck Driver
"Instant because the vehicle as I said everybody knew before it slammed into me that something would happen so they topped and they tried to help but they couldn't do anything. I thank God, thank God that I'm here."
Rodriguez also told us that the crash victim couldn't wait for an ambulance. She was instead transported to the KHMH in a police mobile.
