And while Galvez's family's hope for justice is slowly waning, a Belize City family is hoping the police department will give them justice after a cop shot a man on Tuesday night.

We told you on Wednesday that 20-year-old Kenyon Plunkett was riding pillion on a motorcycle when an officer fired a 12 gauge shot and caught him in his arm.

According to the police, they were engaged in a high speed chase with Plunkett and the motorcycle's driver, and when the cop saw Plunkett reach for his waist - as if to pull out a firearm - he pulled his own trigger.

But Plunkett's mother said that's not what happened. Here's what she told us today.

Karen Logan, Mother of Shooting Victim

"All he said he went over Haulover to a friend's to pick up money and he asked his friend to take him and coming back down, it was then that the police tried to pull him over and traffic was busy and they were trying to ease down and when they slowed down, he said he only heard one shot and one shot, he said like his arm got weak and it fell and they already stopped."

"When I reach the hospital, he said they just dropped him there, I asked the doctors and the nurses and they said, they just dropped him there and told him he got shot but they didn't say from who or where he got the shot, how he got the shot."

"Everybody knows my son as a fisherman, a local fisherman, he goes by Haulover to fish, he goes by Barracks to fish, he goes by the swing bridge to fish, everybody knows him as a hard working young man, he does his fishing and sell to different businesses and so."

"The way how I feel and when I heard he got the shot, I didn't know which part of his body he got the shot, I didn't know how I would meet my son, I didn't know if he would be dead or alive when I got the news."

"Our concern is, we just want justice."

Plunkett is still recovering in the hospital, and his family is asking for blood donations. His mother can be reached at 635-2216.
