Tonight, police still don't know who those ghost guns that arrived in the country last week were intended for. As we told you, the three weapons - new but without serial numbers - plus unmarked ammunition -were shipped from Miami inside a regular personal effects box. Customs only screened it in a random check because the box was unremarkable.

The unmarked guns are known as "ghost weapons" - designed for organized crime players - so that they have no traceability in ballistics systems.

It's a worrying appearance - and it begs the question, how long has this been going on? This morning on Sunup the hosts asked the Compol for the latest:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"These are things that we are looking at. Last week we were able to get four guns, one AK 47 which is of 7.26 caliber. And 3 9mm pistols all firearm serial numbers were removed along with those with over 800 rounds of ammunition. Majority of which are of 5.6 Caliber and the rest were of 9mm caliber. Those weapons are with the police. Currently we had detained the custom broker in who's name the items were shipped. We had done interviews with him and we don't have enough to charge him so based on that he was released. We have to be fair to the custom brokers because we do agree that at times you will get items for other people and you don't know what is in these packages. The way how it works now where everything must be done through a broker, brokers find themselves in very peculiar positions where they have to be extremely careful in terms of who they accept to import things in their name. So we have to look at that very closely."

We'll keep following this one closely.
