He snatched a woman's purse so ruthlessly that her baby went tumbling headfirst to the sidewalk. Conch Shell Bay Resident 36-year-old Shane Jones is remanded tonight, after appearing in court today, charged for robbery.
On Friday August 18th, 26-year-old Shayan Ramirez was walking near the Novelo's Bus terminal. Jones allegedly rode by on a bike, jumped off and attempted to yank off her sling bag. The strap snapped, but she held onto the bag, that is until Jones allegedly reached over and pulled her baby from her hands causing the infant to fall to the ground and hit his head. Jones then escaped towards Conch Shell Bay with Ramirez's purse containing $831 worth of documents, cards and other items of value. Jones was detained and appeared before a senior magistrate today where he was read a single charge of robbery to which he pleaded not guilty.
He was offered bail of $3,000 which he was unable to meet and so he was remanded to prison. He is expected to re-appear in court on October 25th.
