And while Commissioner of Police Williams is in no rush to leave the post - the issue of succession remains clear. He has two eligible deputies: Bart Jones and Richard Rosado.
But, Jones is challenging Rosado's promotion to Deputy in the High Court - and he today got a good indication from the judge.
Justice Chabot heard the case where Jones applied for judicial review of the decision of the Security Services Commission to promote Rosado on the 1st July 2021.
The argument his attorney makes is that no Deputy post was vacant at that time Rosado was promoted.
Well, the judge said, quote, "I find that Mr. Jones has demonstrated he has arguable grounds for judicial review with a realistic prospect of success." End quote.
The judge also finds, quote, "Mr. Jones has demonstrated arguable grounds that Dr. Rosado's retroactive promotion to the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police with effect from 1st July 2021 may have been unlawful."
The judge also found, quote, "Mr. Jones has raised arguable grounds that the decision personally affected him because it upended seniority in the Department."
The judge concluded that Jones is granted leave to apply for judicial review.
