A 32 year old man was today found guilty of raping a 9 year old girl. He is Charles Martinez, and today Justice Ricardo Sandcroft concluded that his crime was established beyond reasonable doubt.
The victim told court he dragged her by the hair into a room where he forced her to perform oral sex on him. He did this after he took the child from a home where she was staying, and dragged her into an outdoor bathroom. The account was confirmed by a cousin who walked in on him while in the act. He also threatened to kill the child if he told anyone.
In his defense, Martinez gave a dock statement where he denied ever committing such an ugly act, claiming he was a family man with a common - law wife who had no reason to do such a thing.
But the evidence against him was convincing to the judge who said he found the witnesses for the victim to be credible and unshakeable.
