It all narrows down to the Plett parents, who are prominent and upstanding members of their community.
Letkemen says that there isn't much to know about them and they were just like any other family in the community.
Although Ayana's autopsy reveals that she died as a result of blunt force trauma, Letkemen says that he will leave the investigators to do their due diligence.

"Well I know them very well they are very well known very normal family nothing special about them. I don't believe they serve in any leadership positions within the community but so in that sense I wouldn't say it's not prominent but they are very well known Nothing Special About them."

"So why would there be speculation that the child was being abused or would be experiencing some form of harm."
Harry Letkemen, Chairman, Spanish Lookout
"Well I don't know what the police have revealed for instance to the mother of the child the biological mother but children don't just die you know unless they are ill unless they had an accident they don't just pass away and so for a child to be found to have passed away at night is just almost unheard of. We hear about suddenly death syndrome perhaps but I think this is a situation that would lend itself well to that type of speculation. I haven't heard and so I will wait. I'm curious to see what the post mortem will say but I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions or speculate or pass judgment until I have seen that post mortem or heard what it says right."

"So we received word earlier that the cause of death of this child is blunt force trauma which suggests that she was being hit. So I Guess the question is are you in support of a full investigation being launched into this particular family unit."
Harry Letkemen, Chairman, Spanish Lookout
"When we first heard the story I did call the OC in San Ignacio and perhaps this can be off the record but just for you to understand I did ask him to consider giving them bail on a weekend cause it was a long weekend and they have children as well and me being the community representative I did ask the OC if he would consider to offer bail on a weekend but when he brought to my attention that there was evidence of injury and harm and then I backed off and I said I'm not going to interfere It would be very inappropriate."
