The familial war between Gilroy Usher Sr and Gilroy Usher Jr is one step closer to being resolved after the politician today dropped criminal charges against his son.
On June 28th, 2023, Usher Jr was arraigned on charges of damage to property, threat to damaged property, and harm. This was after a dispute with his father that allegedly led to him threatening to damage Usher Sr's pawn shop then carrying out the threat by crashing into the shutters and glass door. He also reportedly caused harm to a woman.
In December 2023, the charge of harm was dropped after the woman requested no further court action.
And today, Gilroy Sr dropped the remaining charges. Court Reporter Anita Nembhard spoke to his son after the proceedings.

"It was just the dispute that originated and I believe that as a family we decided to take steps to bring the matter to a conclusion and this is just one step in that direction."
"Basically he indicated to the court that he no longer wished to proceed with the matter, that's his right, I believe it's the best thing for the family and we just simply want to move on."
Usher Sr slipped away after the proceeding.
