And while the Senate Committee can call any minister or government official - today the UDP Chairman said, why don't they call the PM?

Mike Peryfitte, UDP Chairman

"They were not supposedly summoned, they were summoned and they duely attended today but were told that members of the committee were either sick or traveling or something to that effect. I don't know how you don't know those people were not available before this morning. That is a matter you have to ask them. But I don't sit on the committee. I don't sit on the special select committee so you would have to ask them as to why they postponed it. They were so gung-ho about it they seemed so aggressive in summoning Erwin Contreras and Hugo Patt. And they seem very nonchalant in wanting to hear from the prime minister himself who was the one who took the document, the definitive agreement as well as proposed legislative draftings to the cabinet to be passed so they were excited to have these people there. These people showed up today and they barked. What prevented them from proceeding with the hearing here today and I think putting it to February 14th is anybody's guess that is a matter for them. I'm not privy to that information but I think it would have been good for the public to have heard what these two gentlemen have to say or at least their responses to the questions."
