On Friday we told you about the complaint against prominent car dealer Amado Badillo. Police listed it as obtaining property by deception after a Caye Caulker Doctor, Dimas Sansorez told police that in April of 2023, Badillo took his money - 65,000 dollars of it - and promised to deliver a 2020 Ford Ranger for it - but 9 months later, Badillo didn't come through with the vehicle.
Well, the DPP says she has reviewed the complaint and told police to charge Badillo for theft. We know from other sources that Badillo has also given police a lengthy statement with his side of the story where he says he provided proof to the doctor that his vehicle has been acquired and is on the way from Houston.
But, there's a wrinkle - because 7news has learned that the VIN number that the doctor provided to police for the vehicle he was supposed to buy back in April of 2023 - is in fact a vehicle formerly owned by a customs officer. He told us he did offer it to Badillo for sale briefly - but ended up selling it to someone else after Badillo didn't come up with the cash to close the deal.
