Back in July of 2020, 53 year old Shedrack White fatally stabbed 41 year old William Rubio on Cemetery Road during an altercation. White has since been on remand for the past 3 years, and today he appeared in court for a competency hearing to determine if he is fit to stand trial for murder. White has been diagnosed by a psychiatrist from the ministry of health as schizophrenic who has lost touch with reality.

Dr Alejandro Matus, who did four evaluations of White at the prison, took the stand today and explained to the court that White can be treated but there is no cure for his illness. He says that White is also bipolar and suffers from psychosis. He told the court that based on the British trial criteria White is not fit for trial, and has to be on permanent treatment. The second person to take the stand was Virgilio Murillo, the CEO of Kolbe Foundation. He informed the court that White has been a repeat offender since 2006 and has committed up to 12 infractions including assault charges of inmates, other prisoners and prison guards. He claims that he has no knowledge of White's mental illness but considers him to be a high risk danger. Justice Candance Nanton has ordered a written report from CEO Murillo, and will make a decision on White's case at a later date.
