A Dangriga man was killed as he slept in his bed last night - but it wasn't by an attacker, a lover, or a gunman - it was a vehicle that killed him. An out of control SUV - allegedly with a drunk driver behind the wheel - barreled into Kenrick Castillo's home on St Vincent Street - which is right in the heart of the town.

We spoke to the 46 year old's neighbor and cousin via telephone this morning:

Tamara Lewis, Cousin of Deceased
"Me and my ma deh inside di relax di watch TV, and we hear a loud banging. Soh when we heard the loud banging, we ran outside and opened the door. So when we ran outside and opened the door, we realized that my cousin's house was down. So, my nephew who just saw my cousin went inside his house and asked where's "Bada"? We have to look for him, because he's in his house."

"When we searched for him, we found him not responding on the ground, bleeding from his head, from all over his body."

"The vehicle ran over him, then within 10 minutes the police was here and there police transferred him to the southern regional hospital. When we reached Southern Regional about 15 minutes after, the doctor pronounced him dead."

"The vehicle was coming at a speed limit across from Havana bridge so the vehicle came under that speed and it come like with an impact. Direct. The driver lost control because of the speed he was coming on. So he lost control when he crossed the bridge. So when the vehicle lost control he ran straight into his house."

"Mein, the family still in shock and still not believing what happened. But we have to be strong for each other and so we can do what we have do bets. All we ask for is justice for the two drunken drivers who did it."

Police have detained the driver and we'll let you know when charges are brought.
