A man narrowly escaped death last night after he was threatened with a gun while at his residence. 33-year-old James Nunez told police that four people came by his home yesterday afternoon, one of them brandishing a firearm and accusing Nunez of stealing car parts three months ago. ComPol Williams gave us more details today.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"That matter. I believe it's one where, according to the reports, is that the victim is saying that he was in front of his home sitting on a bucket, I think, and he was approached by two persons or three persons in a rodeo, a black rodeo. One August, Randy August I believe is the name, alighted the vehicle and approached him and inquired about some tool that he may had left at the victim's garage while he was trying to steal, it's a very strange report. When he was trying to steal some parts from some vehicle. So he came back for the tools and him and the victim had an exchange during which the victim took out a knife to defend himself. And Randy told the girl that was with him to get the gun out of the vehicle. The gun was retrieved and the victim eventually ran and made a call to the police."
"Police responded on the van, the rodeo was intercepted but Randy August and another person had escaped. I am not sure if he has been caught by the police, but certainly if or when he's caught, it's a matter for the police to look at further details."
