Three armed Guatemalans have been detained in the southern Chiquibul National Park.
Yesterday, a joint forces unit encountered three Guatemalans - each of them carrying a firearm. One was a.22 rifle, the other a 16 gauge shotgun and the other a wooden homemade handgun. Live rounds were also found in their possession. These were likely going to be used for hunting.
They were detained and made to endure the hours long extracted to the San Ignacio Police Station.
They were found 400 meters within the boundary of the Chiquibul National Park. They are from the nearby village of Monte Los Olivos and were heading towards a plantation.
