The PUP city council may have gotten a fresh and strong mandate in the March 6th elections - but it wasn't enough to prevent an ongoing power struggle over who should be the next City Administrator.
After the murder of former city admin Stephanie Lindo, a power vacuum was created in the city's most powerful post and there's been a scramble to fill it.
The mayor wants former councillor and his close ally Albert Vaughan to do it. But a coalition of 6 or 7 councilors including Allan Pollard wants PUP Secretary General Linsford Castillo for the job.
Now usually hiring administrative staff is the domain of the mayor - but the 7 councilors have demanded to vote on it at a caucus. The mayor rejected that initially but late reports today said he would agree to do so, not at a caucus but through a round robin vote via email. That email was to have been sent today - but up until late afternoon, it hadn't been circulated.
We'll keep following it to see who ends up on top of this power struggle.
