And there was another shooting in the city - only this one was with rubber bullets. Police officers fired them into a crowd after a fight broke out in front of Shisha Lounge on Newton Barracks. Two persons were injured and four were arrested. ACP Romero told us more.

"On Saturday the 25th day of 2024, around 2:50am police responded to a disturbance of an area near Shisha. Upon the arrival there was a fight in progress as a result a shot was fired from a shotgun by the police with rubber bullets to disperse the crowd. Two persons received injuries from the rubber bullets. Some persons were detained, Clayshawn Lewis and Barry Young were charged for disorderly conduct. Britney Ramclam was arrested and charged for assaulting a police officer, and Winford was arrested for the offense of obstruction."

"They were having a fight in the area with several person involved."

"Yes they were consuming alcoholic beverages."

"What led to the decision to use rubber bullets?"

"That is under investigation by the Professional Standards Branch and so we will await the results of that investigation."

"The persons who were injured, have they already been treated?"

"Yes they were treated for minor injuries."

Ramclam's family is disputing the allegation that there was a fight, meanwhile one of the men shot is a football player who will need surgery to take the bullet out of his leg.
