As you've heard just now, the Don Elijio Panti National Park is co-managed by the Itzamna Society Group. The chairlady of Itzamna Society, Maria Garcia has been up day and night coordinating all these groups from her home office on her radio. She has a granular depth of knowledge about the park: she knows who is on what hill, what they eat. - if they eat- and what supplies they need. Garcia may be small in stature as she is almost on her tiptoes to reach her C.B. radio but she has strong opinions on her community and the country - and she believes both are not concerned enough and have been complacent with a precious resource such as water:
