Today, a disturbing video emerged of a standard 6 student from Santa Cruz village being mercilessly bullied by a group of boys. The video lasts for 6 minutes and it shows the young man walking undaunted while suffering a slew of taunts, intimidation and verbal assaults. Eventually one of his aggressors - a high schooler who is being egged on by the boy behind the camera - punches him. His sunglasses were sent flying and he falls backwards, then calmly gets up and tries to go about his business - even as they continue to taunt and harass him.
Today, via voice message the commissioner told us that he immediately directed police to find the victim:.
The commissioner later confirmed that a number of boys have been detained for questioning. The commissioner made a post this afternoon, saying "It's very disheartening to see how these young boys could have opted to bully such a quiet and humble person. It is more disheartening to have seen how the others instigated this bullish act to occur.
He adds, quote, "This is how gang group starts. The police will be working with the parents, students and schools to address this issue, to ensure the young man does not become a criminal gang group, to see what can be done to allow them to continue their education while, at the same time, be punished for what they did..."
