12 years ago, the then 25 year old Calaney Flowers was charged for the murder of her baby's father, Lyndon Morrison. That's after she drove her vehicle directly into him when he rode a motorcycle on Freetown Road, and sent him and his girlfriend Sochyl Sosa, who was his passenger, flying into the air.

Morrison's injuries were too severe, and he succumbed, but Sosa survived the incident.

Flowers three week trial in June of 2016 resulted in her acquittal for murder and attempted murder for Sosa's injuries.

But the DPP's office did not allow that acquittal to stand and commenced an appeal on the grounds that the judge had failed to consider the alternative charge of manslaughter.

Flowers, who's been out on bail and was awaiting her retrial, appeared in court today and took a plea bargain, pleading guilty to manslaughter which would have gotten her 10 years imprisonment. But High Court of Justice Derick Sylvester deducted 5 years from her sentence which she already served and suspended the other 5. Justice Sylvester was of the view that Flowers would not reoffend. She was represented in court today by attorney Leeroy Banner.
