Political history has been made: The UDP's Standard Bearer for Port Loyola, Phillip Willoughby has married his opponent, Gilroy Usher's Sr.'s daughter. She is Andrea Usher Willoughby and they got married on April 18th in the State of Connecticut.

Willoughby said that despite this unusual circumstance of now having to face his father -in -law in an election, he does not plan to step down. He says his commitment to his party remains steadfast and plans to remain the candidate for the UDP in Port Loyola. He tells his colleagues in a text message worthy of a soliloquy in Romeo and Juliet, "my resolve to become the next Area Representative for the Port Loyola constituency remains steadfast along with my unwavering commitment to my Party… This is my truth, this is my life. Allow me to live and love and still care for my beautiful people of Port Loyola."

Willoughby's statement to his party also adds that he first romantically engaged with his wife over seventeen years ago- before her father was in politics.

Tye recently re-kindled their relationship decided to tithe knot. He says, quote, "This decision is one of the heart and out of love. Nothing more and nothing less. Again let me reiterate this is a personal and private matter, between two consenting adults."

The UDP executive has not yet taken a position on his continued candidacy.
