Charged For Murder, Men Plead Down To Manslaughter, And Pay Restitution

Three men who were charged for the 2015 beating murder of Aurelio Montero Jr have pleaded down to manslaughter.

Windell Obando, Hamed Awe and Saul Ortiz were accused of beating and robbing the 23 year old Coast Guardsman in downtown San Ignacio on a Holy Saturday morning. Montero never regained consciousness and passed away shortly after he was found.

Today all 3 pleaded Guilty and were fined $5,000 each payable to the victims parents by January 2025.
