A mother of two boys must serve almost 14 more years in jail - even after she made a very emotional appeal to the judge for a reduced sentence.
In June, Gracie Rock resident 28 year old Leanne Davis was found guilty of the lesser offense of manslaughter of 24 year old Venecia Staine - who she stabbed to death.
From the dock this evening, Davis asked the court for forgiveness and told the court she was sorry about causing the death of her sister-in-law.
Justice Nanton had set her sentence to 20 years but removed three years for aggravating and mitigating factors, and then another 3 years 2 months and 14 days for time spent on remand - which brought her sentence left to serve a total of 13 year and nine months. Davis was represented by Leroy Banner, the crown was represented by Robert Lord.
