An American Journalist from North Carolina might have been hoping for a breezy time in Belize. But today 49 year old Roderick Boone ended up in Magistrate's Court after he was caught with 22 grams of cannabis and charged with importation of controlled drugs.
Today in court Boone pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $2,000 dollars and given until next week Wednesday to pay or in default, spend a year in jail. He told the court he had the marijuana for his consumption because of pain in his left arm.
Boone flew into the country yesterday and gave the court comfort that he will pay the fine because he has bought land in Hopkins and says he is about to move to Belize.
Boone is in Belize with his wife. After his arraignment, he left with his wife enroute to Hopkins Village.
