A woman police officer is accused of being one of the masterminds behind a string of armed robberies that have been occurring in Belmopan since June. The officer was charged jointly with three others, after they allegedly robbed up to 7 different establishments in the West. Jomarie Lanza has this report.
For the past 5 months the city of Belmopan has been hit with a series of robberies, from pharmacies to butane depots, business owners have reported being held up at gunpoint by individuals dressed in police-type clothing. This led investigators to narrow down these heists to a crew of four alleged robbers - one of them being a female police officer. They allegedly committed a total of 7 robberies in the Belmopan area including Tomza Gas, Lopez Pharmacy, Corkers Restaurant, Quality Poultry, Best Care Pharmacy, BWEL and Country Meat Products.

"Based on several robbery reports that were made over a period from June 2024 to Present. Police have since arrested and charged Jonathan Cruz, 47 years for the crime of robbery and Jonathan Cruz along with Eva Dawnson a police officer have jointly been charged for 7 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery."
"Several searches were conducted and items were recovered and that is what led to the charges being levied at this time."
Jonathan David Cruz and police officer Eva Dawson were charged jointly for 7 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Jonathan David Cruz along with Robert Andrew Tillett were jointly charged with two counts of Robbery on while Elijah Cruz was charged for conspiracy to commit robbery.
All four were remanded.
