Now, the union is hinting at industrial action - but stress that they are first trying to have a dialogue with the government.

And Baird says when he reached out to the PM - he was told that he was being removed because of a conflict of interest. He bristled at that:

Andrew Baird, President, KHMHWU

"There are many ways we can have the government to listen. We start with the dialogue. We start with the dialogue. I called the Prime Minister last Tuesday. He did not answer my calls, but I text him and I ask him for him to come to the table to discuss this matter with us."

"And all he said was, you know, there is no hidden agenda and that the removal of the member of the board, of the member of the union from the board is because of a conflict of interest and that it wasn't working."

"Now I want to say this to the Prime Minister. The only conflict of interest that we have in Karl Heusner is the CEO being a relative by the virtue of her husband, being your wife, brother. The conflict of interest in Karl Heusner is the director of human resource, being the sister of your cabinet secretary Stuart Leslie."

"That's the conflict of interest within Karl Heusner."

Notably, Baird was to be replaced on that board by Dr Alaine, and notice of this was sent to the government on October 8th.
