There was a brazen armed robbery today in Silk Grass Village. Two men barged into Merry Store - one of them had a gun and held the cashier while the other went to get into the cash register. They covered their faces while helping themselves to the contents of the cash register.
In a terrifying scene that took almost two minutes to unfold, the robbers scraped up every valuable they could - and even did so in the presence of the store owner's child.
Police were quick to respond and they detained two suspects, both from Belize City. They also recovered a quantity of stolen money. One of the suspects is a well known criminal who was very active in the 90's. They were in a getaway vehicle which has been impounded along with the driver who is from the Independence Village area.
