A 17 year old San Ignacio resident was shot and killed this morning and tonight police are closely looking at the circumstances of what is being reported as a robbery in progress.
It happened at 8:30 in the Bointon Area of San Ignacio town. A property owner said he went to check his storeroom which is inside a container. When he got there he saw a hispanic male, apparently burglarizing the place. The owner says that the minor attacked him with a two by four - and he used his licensed firearm to shoot him in self defence.
The alleged burglar then dashed out of the container and collapsed about 40 feet away, where he died. He had reportedly been shot to the face. Neighbors told us they only heard screams.
The victim has been identified as Huard Ramirez who lives in the same area - and the only picture of him that we could find is from some years ago when he was a child. We did find his mother, but she was in no condition to talk- she just wanted answers from the police. She told us he left home at 8:00 am. - thirty minutes before he was killed.
The property owner reportedly told police that he would not cooperate further without his attorney present.
