Tonight, Corozal police are looking for a grandmother after a 10 year old alleged that granny tried to burn her mouth with a hot spoon for lying.
To protect the child we won't use any names, but a mother from Corozal Town, went to the police station with her 10-year-old daughter to report the incident.
According to the minor, on Friday, November 22, at an aunt's home in Calcutta Village her grandmother heated a metal spoon and threatened, "Get ready...I will burn your mouth because you lie." The grandmother allegedly forced the child to remove her hands from her face and attempted to burn her mouth. During the struggle, the child sustained burns to both sides of her face, the left side of her neck, and her right arm, resulting in severe pain. A doctor certified the injuries as grievous harm. Police are now looking for the grandmother to charge her.
