Tonight there's another fatal RTA to report and another family mourning the death of a teenage boy.
This time it happened in the west and the deceased is a 13 year old boy. His parents say he had taken the cycle out on the highway without their knowledge, and now, instead of planning what would have been his 14th birthday party, they must now deal with the reality of planning his funeral.
We spoke to the family of 13 year old Micah Contreras this morning. Jomarie Lanza Reports.
His parents believed he was at home, or so they thought, but 13 year old Micah Contreras, had taken his motorcycle out for a spin without his parents' knowledge.
When they heard the commotion of an accident not far from their home in the village of Unitedville last night. his father was the first to receive the heart sinking news that, no his child was not inside the house, and yes he's the motorcyclist that was hit on the highway.

"We the sit down and I would say about 15 minutes while sitting there talking to the workers we heard a loud bang it sounded like two trucks collide. My cousin who works with me who looks over the company he ran to the front and said Mike where are your two sons, Malachi was at the soccer field and Micah is probably inside I wasn't sure and I when I heard the commotion I got up and I looked and he said man it's a bad accident and I looked down because it happened right down the street and I saw his friend running up and shouting it's Micah! It's Micah. I didn't know it was my son so I jumped in my vehicle and drove to the scene and when I got there I got there and saw my son laying in the drain hit by a truck or a pickup I'm not sure they just said a truck hit him and apparently he was on the bike the motorcycle when he got hit."
It's a series of events that will forever haunt the Contreras family. What time did Micah leave the house? aland what was he doing on the highway?

"I was at work I didn't know he took the motorcycle I know he rides the motorcycle but he's not allowed to take the motorcycle on the highway. This is about 1.5 Acres we live on here and they are allowed to play with the motorcycle inside of the yard but not allowed to take the motorcycle on the highway so for what reason he went out there it's unknown it will be a question I will live with for the rest of my life because I can't ask him he is not with us anymore and he was suspended yesterday from school. That's the part that hurt me the most because the wrongfully accused him for something he did not do. And I don't want to play the blame game I just feel like if he wasn't at home and at school I don't know."
Micah who is the oldest of their three children, would have turned 14 the following week. His parents were already in the process of planning his birthday party.

"He was 13 years old?"

"Thirteen, His birthday, we were planning to celebrate his birthday."
Reporter
"When was his birthday."
Mother Of Deceased
"On the 13th of December. I just showed him his birthday invitations and we were supposed to send those via electronically and planning for that birthday on Saturday but now we have to plan for something else."

"Yesterday I got up ready for work and already walked out of the house. I actually got in the truck and start it up turned the truck off came back inside and sat on the couch and he was laying on the other couch and I started talking to him and I said son your birthday is coming up what do you want? You want us to travel? you want us to go for dinner? You want a party? He said he wants a party so I said okay invite your friends and we will plan it and after that we ran some jokes and had a father and son connection and I said okay I'll see you later when I come back we will finish our planning. Not knowing that I would come home from work to Bad News."
Contreras's cousin was also injured while they were transporting Micah to the Western Regional Hospital. The minor is said to have fallen out from the back of the truck and sustained a head injury.
