And the prime minister also sent his condolences to the families of two recent fatal accidents. One of those accidents occurred right outside Orange Walk Town, and as we told you, resulted in the death of one student. Another student is currently in a coma, and a teacher has been left paralyzed.
Briceno is now asking Belizeans who can to help lighten the financial burden.
John Briceno, Prime Minister

"It's an unfortunate accident. Look at Miriam, I knew her as Magana when she was living in Orange Walk. They stopped to help somebody and here's a drunk driver who ran into them and she gets killed. Those are the things that, I can't use the word on TV, how upset you get with things like that and we need to deal with these people to the fullest extent of the law, and there should be no excuse that they are driving drunk on the highway. On the accident, I don't know the real details as to what happened with the accident, but it's unfortunate, a young kid lost his life and that's even more tragic than anything else and especially during the Christmas season. And then it's not like they were on a joyride, they were on a class trip so from every angle, it was really a tragedy, it's heartbreaking and I can feel for the family but the grief that they're going through it something none of us are going through so we can just send our love to them and support as best as we can. I know there is a teacher that apparently got spinal injuries, facial injuries, and now he is in Guatemala. I am appealing to everybody for us to be able to help, even if it's a $5, it's $5 more they have, and I personally will also give a donation for the fund to help."
