A case management conference was held today in the high-profile rape case against Orson "OJ" Elrington. The 43-year-old attorney stands accused of raping a woman, and the case is being tried before Justice Nigel Pilgrim in a trial without jury.

Elrington's defense team includes his father, Hubert Elrington, along with attorneys Norman Rodriguez and Michelle Trapp. Wilfred Elrington is also expected to be part of the defense at trial. The prosecution is being led by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryl-Lynn Vidal.

During today's hearing, the defense raised objections to what they described as hearsay evidence and said they would be submitting those objections in writing by July 18.

Notably, Elrington is not pursuing an alibi defense. Instead, his legal team is arguing that there was no contact with the virtual complainant and, if contact is established, it was consensual.

As it stands, the trial could see as many as 12 witnesses, including five from the defense. However, the final witness list will be confirmed at the next case management hearing, scheduled for September 19.

The trial date has not yet been set.
