The furor may have subsided over the revelation that Special Advisor to the Ministry Of National Security, Former Deputy Compol Aaron Guzman has a contract for 70 grand annually, but one man still hadn't weighed in - that is until today.

Chester Williams is the former Commissioner of Police -and last week, his former Minister Kareem Musa volunteered that it was Williams who had recommended Guzman for the post.

Today, in a cagey comeback, Chester told us that if he knew he could make recommendations to the Minister, he would have recommended himself for the job:

"Your former Minister said it is you who recommended your former Deputy Mr Guzman as a special advisor during your tenure."

Chester Williams, CEO in the Ministry of Transport

"I am not aware that my advice would have counted, I would have advised that I be the CEO for home affairs if that was the case."

Reporter
"Do you have a special advisor as a CEO?"

Chester Williams, CEO in the Ministry of Transport
"I don't have a special advisor, I believe that my ministry do have people with expertise who can guide me in areas I am not too familiar."

"And so I rely on them for advice in areas where I am not too familiar."

Reporter
"As a CEO now, do you see why a CEO would need an advisor?"

Chester Williams, CEO in the Ministry of Transport
"I personally don't need one and I believe that I am competent enough to do the work, and like I said as a CEO you will never know everything and that is the reason why you have the different department heads who have been there before you and you have to rely on them for some degree of expertise to be able to ensure that whenever you make decisions you make the right one."

And while the Minister said Guzman is a strategic advisor, 7News has confirmed that the Ministry actually hired a private consultancy for 25,000 dollars to develop its strategic plan.
