30 year old Kyle Zetina was sentenced to three life terms today for the 2019 murders of 44 year old Alarice Andrewin, 39 year old Vidal Yuman, and 19 year old Maria Lucas. The triple murder occurred in June of that year at Andrewin's home at mile 10 and a half on the George Price Highway.
Zetina was initially jointly charged with Shawn Flores, but Flores was acquitted earlier this year due to lack of evidence. Zetina was found guilty in February after choosing not to testify in his own defense.
During the sentencing, Justice Nanton considered victim impact statements, Zetina's social inquiry and psychiatric reports, and testimony from character witnesses. Zetina maintained his innocence throughout the trial.
Justice Nanton cited several aggravating factors, including the fact that there were multiple victims, including a vice principal in her home, and the attempted sale of the victim's vehicle.
Zetina will be eligible for the possibility of parole after 37 years. Despite being found guilty of the 3 counts or murder, this morning in mitigation, Zetina maintained his innocence and sympathized with the family of the deceased, saying quote, "I am sorry for the death of the family members but I cannot say I am sorry about doing it because I didn't do it "
