There was an early morning armed robbery at Pound Yard Market today.
Just after 5:30 a.m., police responded to a report from 35-year-Old Lissette Martinez, a Salvadoran vendor. She said she had just finished buying vegetables and was heading back to her husband's vehicle when she was approached by a man she had seen moments earlier lurking outside a nearby pharmacy.
The man walked up to her, pulled what appeared to be a black firearm from his waist, and demanded money. Fearing for her life, she handed over $1,200 in cash. The suspect then rode off toward Orange Street.
Police have canvassed the area and located surveillance cameras. So far, the suspect remains unidentified.
