Witnesses recorded the entire incident on a smartphone, and today that man who was pinned to the ground by officers appeared in court for allegedly assaulting one of the police officers. He is 19 year old Andrew Guild. After spending two nights in police custody Guild he appeared before Magistrate Ludlow Black this morning charged with aggravated assault upon PC Kenton Arzu. Guild claimed police brutality and pleaded not guilty. Outside of court, he gave his version of what happened on Sunday.

Andrew Guild, Charged for Aggravated Assault:
"Well the whole thing is right the police tried to use force upon me and I tried to help myself and when they realised I was trying to help myself they came and tackled me to the ground, use excessive force against me and as you can see my face is still bruised up a bit you get the sense."
"At the moment of the time I had just jumped into my car and reversed to go and pick up my daughter. This was right at the corner of Crawl road and Reggae street. I was on my way to pick up my daughter and the police just stopped me and I said okay this is a regular police stop so they came out, searched the vehicle and everything was okay. So I reversed from out of their way about to go and the officer who said I assaulted him came out of the truck, chased down my car for a second time and told me to come out of the vehicle right away I felt threatened and I pushed my hand out of the vehicle and told him I don't have anything I'm not doing anything you understand me and by the time I opened my door he was using excessive force against me he was looking to hurt me so what I did was try to let go myself so he would release me from off of him and after that two other police came, tackled me to the ground had their knee on my neck and also in my back I couldn't breathe for like 3 minutes and I made them know clear I would sue them. And me personally I think the reason why that man brought that charge on me was because he knew I would take legal action."
Guild was granted bail in the sum of $2,000 which he met. He returns to court on October 7.
