Life In Prison For 2023 Murder

Two years ago, on July 26, 2023, James Escarpeta was killed as he walked at the corner of West and Orange Street. Well, the man who fatally shot him in the head was found after his image was captured on a surveillance video leaving the scene.

And tonight, that accused man, 34 year old Jason McKenzie has been sentenced to life Imprisonment. That translates to a 20 year sentence, meaning that less two years served on remand, he will spend 18 more years in jail.

Mckenzie pleaded guilty to murder onFebruary and after the sentence was handed down today, he appeared unsurprised, and smiled as he took his slow walk for the camera.
