A 56 year old perished in a San Pedro fire on Friday night. It happened on SunFlower Street around 8:00 pm at a small wood and zinc structure.
Police told us more:

"Then on Friday, the 8th of August, 2025, police responded to a fire in San Pedro. Upon arrival, they found a small building completely engulfed in flames. Fire personnel came to the area and extinguished the flames."
"The after a search was conducted, where the charred remains of a person was found inside the building, the remains were taken to the hospital, where they were presently awaiting a post-mortem examination. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time."
"Yeah, he was the only one that took care of that small building."
56-year-old Dary Blades was originally from Ranchito Village in Corozal District. He had lived in the Quay for years. Most recently, he was a caretaker for a home under construction.

"My reaction is that it gave me a shock only, you know, because somebody called and told me about it. I didn't know, but he was a very loving person, you know, very loving person. Everybody was loved him. He was loved by everyone, you know, always like a cheerful person, very cheerful. I was happy."
The owner of the building was out of the country and no cause of the fire has been determined.
