In other sugar news, we asked Mai about the development concessions that the Barrow Administration gave the company, ASR when it arrived in 2012.
Those are up for renewal - but best information suggests that there may be some division in the Briceno Cabinet over this. We asked Mai if he would support a renewal:

"If I support the renewal of that concession? Well that is a matter that has to go to cabinet and then it has to be presented in the house of representatives by then I will decide."

"But if not then why?"

"I'm not saying no. I'm just saying I have to do a thorough analysis and get guidance from my technical team and ministry and it has to be discussed in cabinet. But I don't want to comment yes or no. But it has to be well ventilated in cabinet and it has to go to parliament."
