Deon Faber was killed in broad daylight on San Pedro in March of 2019, and, tonight, one of his shooters has been convicted while the other accused has been acquitted.
That happened in the courtroom of Justice Candace Nanton today - whereto two accused - who happen to be cousins - faced very different outcomes.
Anthony Carballo Jr. was found guilty while his cousin Darrell Grant was acquitted. In her decision, Justice Nanton said, "The crown evidence showed there was one shooter clearly." The judge was not sufficiently convinced of Grant's involvement.
In the trial, Carballo Jr., remained silent despite being named as the shooter. Grant gave an unsworn statement from the dock saying that he had only gone to the house to buy weed and that he had no knowledge of any murder. The prosecution introduced multiple security video footage files showing the men at and around the scene.
Nanton has deferred sentencing until October 6, 2025.
Carballo Jr., was represented by Lynden Jones while Grant was represented by Darrell Bradley.
Anthony Carballo Jr., was charged for the murder of Jermaine McNab in 2012, but got off that one.
