He was soundly rejected in Port Loyola the last general election - and now Phillip Willoughby may have saved himself the humiliation in Freetown.
Willoughby today announced that he is pulling out of the Freetown Convention which he had entered his name for.
Willoughby cited personal and academic opportunities as his reason for withdrawing, noting that he has been accepted to pursue a second Master's Degree at an overseas university.
In his letter, Willoughby congratulated Angelie Perez, who will assume the caretaker role for Freetown. Willoughby is the second straw candidate for the Freetown convention to throw in the towel; the first was Jose Uc Espat.
Perez will now be the uncontested caretaker for Freetown - meaning that control of the delegates for that seat likely go to Tracy Panton.
