She said she was in Belize to run a farm and trade only in barter - but Abigail Tuttle O'Keeffe was running from the law in her home state of Pennsylvania, USA and now she's been sent back.

O'Keeffe was shipped out of Belize on Friday to face charges in the US after she was charged in January of 2024 with more than 100 counts of animal cruelty. It is described as the largest case of farm animal cruelty in that county's history. O'Keeffe fled the country shortly after charges were brought against her and came to Belize where on April 25th, she was arrested for possession of a firearm in Benque Viejo. That's where her name came up on a wanted list and Belizean police alerted their US counterparts.

In her Facebook post here in Belize, O'Keefe had said she would produce various products and that people can pay her "with barter only."
